Before we all get too excited, the plantations are on long-term lease to Olam and are being sold without the permanent water rights essential to a durable almond business. No, thank you.
A successful sale does provide a fresh basis for the valuation of SHV when the highest, dizziest 'agribusiness' bidder acquires a sorely incomplete asset exquisitely exposed to the fortunes of Olam and the vagaries of the water market.
Observe with interest. SHV might usefully have a peek at the sales data, but I cannot see it bidding.
