    They were great generations who in my experience learnt the real meaning of decency and compassion. You could see it in their eyes. I remember one bloke, he'd had his face flattened by a Japanese shovel in a POW camp in Thailand. Despite all, he was such a good soul and hadn't lost his humour. Had time for anyone.

    Fast forward to today and the lessons have been lost, replaced by a political class who are led around by their own greed and self-aggrandisement, happy to beat the drum of war as only a bunch of ex-office bound lawyers, accountants and bankers can. And Pauline Hanson has the hide to play dress-ups in the uniform. grrrrr.
