However, as I had also suspected, your assertion of "

The column on the very right-hand-side of the table (see graphic below), headed "
Shorts as a % of volume" reflects only
gross short trades; it takes no account of the buying on the part of those who are short.
As such, the value of such information is limited, and mainly serves to create the sort of mis-comprehension trap into which you appear to have stepped.

In that case, what do you make of the fact that the short position for MSB has, in fact, declined over time, from 8% two-and-a-half years ago, to 6% a little over a year ago?
How would you interpret that
net buying over that period, by those who were short the stock?
Moreover, who do you reckon it was that was doing the
selling to the shorters who were covering their short positions?
