    Lynas' uneventful quarter as expansion continues
    ATTEMPTS by Malaysia’s opposition party to stoke passions against Lynas Corporation’s Lynas Advanced Materials Plant have so far failed, and managing director Amanda Lacaze said the company aimed to keep its head down and continue with expansion plans ahead of next month’s election.

    Speaking this morning, Lacaze said Lynas had spent almost two years on reputation management to counter community concerns that LAMP produces radioactive waste that will contaminate the sea water and destroy Kuantan's fishing industry.

    The company has been able to avoid major scandals since it started operating, and Lacaze feels Lynas is in a strong position to avoid becoming a political football.

    "Touch wood at this stage [the opposition] has been unable to get much traction, and we are keeping our heads low and leaving the politicians top debate as politicians do," she said.
