From what I can see though, Placer did not necessarily pull out entirely because of the low gold price, but also because they had mined out all of the easy high grade zones that they had found.
It's left the current JORC with 2.8 m/oz, but only at 1.1 g/t au.
So there is a lot of dirt to be moved to get that gold.
I think the key to a successful future project on Misima will be the discovery of more high grade zones, otherwise it may still remain problematic as a development for some time.
Grade is king, and I expect it will determine the future on Misima, hence the current boards plan to go hunting 4km north, and in other areas.
I will be closely watching future results for grades.
