Lithium batteries are a storage device for energy, not a source. That energy still has to come from somewhere. That "somewhere" has to be a base load source of energy and we can have either coal or gas. Wind and solar are not base load sources. A battery farm may work for short periods of time but once it runs out, you still need a base load source of energy.

For those who think petroleum is going to be banned - Oil is distillated and its components are used to manufacture everything from medicine to plastic bags to tar on the road. Oil will still be extracted regardless of what batteries do for transportation. Oil is not going away any time soon.
