Regardless, ignorant suggestion Lynas would ever want MtPass ore as it negates one of the key advantages to the economics of Mt Weld LRE - low Fluorine content compared to the bastnaesite ore from both Mt Pass & Baotou.
Fluorine content is a major issue for high spec, high value La & Ce products and difficult/expensive to remove.
The low fluorine content in Mt Weld monazite ore is a major advantage for Lynas over Nth RE in firstly getting LaCe streams cost neutral, then ultimately profitable.
As I understand it Lynas have modified LaCe SX circuits to achieve specifications/purities cost effectively in process, and the new train will be an extension of this hard one knowledge.
Totally nonsensical to suggest they would abandon key development and clog it up with Mt Pass bastnaesite.
