It was good to read the last 3 posts on possible alternate agribusiness projects that AAP may consider. I spoke to Management re cherries some 12 months ago and he wouldn't have a bar of them. Well the last cherry harvest in Australia must have been near on a record for recent years with 1 grower I know of (said to be the largest private grower of cherries in Australia) was getting $19 a Kg for cherries landed in Hong Kong with the Chinese paying half the freight costs. He would have sent more plane loads there (they'll take all they can) except he has to protect his supply to the Australian Supermarkets who were paying far far less than $19. I'm not that bullish on AAP and now have only a small holding. They are not reducing their debt, would have trouble raising funds for a new venture and I would expect most of coming years cash surpluses will be spent on replantings. And finally don't dismiss the very real threat of fruit fly in Australia which is far more spread than we are told and the eggs are just at home in olives, avocados and almonds - not just the soft flesh fruits such as peaches, oranges etc
