There are two points to note here.
As far as I am aware Cynata has only a Phase 1 trial with 16 individuals and even this very limited effort will not report until 2020. Have a look back at the length of time it takes to move through to, and complete, Phase 3. If indeed it is coming, it is just out of the starting gate while Mesoblast has the finish line in sight.
The second is that their technology may well infringe Mesoblast patents. Remember the remarkable suite of over 800 patents that Mesoblast has in this area. Takeda and TiGenix have already taken the decision to license from Mesoblast and I'd be very surprised if other players don't end up in the same position.
These are edgy times but clinical trials run to their own very specific time table.
