I like to do both and I think there's a place for both. I also don't think it's a fair to compare one stock for in a LT/ST comparison. The types of stocks that I hold as an investor are tradeable but boring and the types of stocks I trade, I would never invest in. Plus you need to consider your own strengths and weaknesses and other factors in your life and that might push you more in one direction than the other. Horses for courses.
