Yes, had the same issue when I first looked into it. The answer seems to be that, no, there is no patent protection, but some sort of in house process or production IP they keep to themselves. I get that that maybe better than a patent as a patent discloses the IP to everyone who may develop a slight variation and compete. It is still an area of uncertainty and concern for me though I did buy a small parcel.
