Mark Callander might be very good, NZ seemed to go relatively smoothly (compared to aus), and in a very competitive environment.
His background knowledge and experience from being so close to the top would be very handy, he would have an idea of what needs to be done. And NZ was covering both enterprise and consumer, so he should have a reasonably broad overview, more skewed to consumer, which is where the problems are, and he would have strong leadership in Enterprise and Wholesale with Mick Simmons to fall back on.
Some are hoping for an outsider to help with the 'fresh start', but not sure how feasible it is to pickup a CEO with telco experience out of the wild.
In any case its good to at least have him as a contender, someone to at least measure an outsider against.
