The Graham patent expires next month (we should have a wake). We no longer (if we ever have been) the gatekeeper of this technology. That mantle has now passed on to CSHL, imo.
Our IP is now more target specific. Bluebird, or any other company, is free to do the same.
The only thing that matters now is whether or not any company can get the technology to work in humans and in commercial quantities.
