Parents did a 5kw inverter just prior to the government getting rid of the 50cent rebate, they only put 2kw panels. Though it was noted it was a 5kw system to the power company/government for the rebate.
Stayed on the 2kw system for 3 yrs I think before upgrading to 4.5kw. Their power bills are about minimum $400 credit each quarter. But if/when they signed up to the rebate and only stipulated 2kw, the rebate would of only been on 2kw max output and the rest non rebated if and when they choose to upgrade.
Considering it cost them $225 for each additional panel which includes install, it will not be long before it is once paid off.
