While trawling through the CSIRO Twitter feed I found this:
https://www.csiro.au/en/Research/EF/Areas/Solar/Solar-cooling
The mention of HVAC (heating, ventilation and cooling), twigged my memory regarding it's use in the Radio Telescope project st Murchison.
https://www.carnegiece.com/project/csiro-stand-alone-power-station/
- 6MWp Solar PV – Over 5000 solar panels
- 25 MVA microgrid-connected at 6.6 kV, ABB PCS100 Inverter 1.25 MVA
- 6MWh Samsung SDI lithium batteries
- PV central inverters delivered in first in kind EMI shielded containers custom designed and manufactured by EMC in Perth
- Containerised installation, Fire Suppression / Fire Rated, Centralised HVAC
- EMC designed control system (National Instruments)
Given that the CSIRO and EMC collaborated on the solar and battery storage, it seems they collaborated on solar powered HVAC as well.
Data Centres, Super Computer Centres, Communication Bases, Space Industry and the like, rely on efficient ventilation and cooling. Perhaps the lessons learnt at Murchison could be deployed at such facilities in the future.
