Sabre Resources set to test East Tennant copper-gold targets in NT

  • Drilling contractor secured for up to 6,000m AC and RC program
  • Drilling to test standout Tennant Creek look-alike ironstone-copper-gold targets
  • Around 10km of strike-length corridor identified
  • Company awarded exploration grant co-funding from NT government

Sabre Resources (ASX:SBR) has signed a drilling contractor to carry out up to 6,000m of aircore and slime-line RC drilling at its Kurundi North project in the Tennant Creek copper-gold region of the Northern Territory.

Kurundi North is part of a significant 4,000 sq. km acquisition of Brema Resources, the owner of the East Tennant Ridge iron-oxide-copper-gold (IOCG) projects, and North Tennant Minerals, the owner of the North Arunta gold project.

“Sabre is very pleased to have secured a drilling contractor to carry out this maiden 6,000m drilling program, testing priority Tennant Creek look-alike targets at its Kurundi North project along strike from Tennant Creek,” CEO, Jon Dugdale, said.

“Kurundi North is just one of a number of target areas to be acquired in this highly prospective region – which has received very little previous testing in areas of shallow cover, despite geophysical evidence that ironstone-copper-gold bearing rock units at Tennant Creek continue under cover into this area.

“Preparations for the program are underway and drilling is expected to commence within a few weeks of the upcoming shareholders meeting, subject to approval of this transformational acquisition of over 4,000 sq. km of project areas in the Tennant Creek region.”

The company has also welcomed the receipt of an NT government co-funding grant for follow-up diamond drilling of these standout copper-gold targets.

The Kurundi North Tennant Creek look-alike targets were initially identified from regional scale magnetics imagery which showed three distinct positive magnetic anomalies, indicative of ironstone, within a 10km strike-length, northwest-southeast trending structural corridor under shallow cover.

Detailed drone magnetics at Kurundi North defined the magnetic anomalies and showed distinct ‘breaks’ in the magnetic pattern, indicative of (IOCG) mineralisation.

Gravity survey imagery shows a 10km strike-length gravity high zone which indicates a signature indicative of the iron-oxide copper-gold mineralisation found at new discoveries at Tennant Creek such as the White Devil gold deposit of Emmerson Resources (ASX:EME) and the Bluebird copper-gold discovery of Tennant Minerals.

SBR is steady at 0.7¢. Mkt cap $3.591M.
