HotCopper Highlights: Your most watched stocks for Week 48, 2024

Good afternoon, a happy end of the week, and welcome to HotCopper Highlights – I’m Jonathon Davidson.

Let’s get into it.

Perth Basin gas developer Strike Energy commanded 13, 205 eyes on Thursday with its news the company will go ahead connecting a power station to its Erregulla project.

The news came after Macquarie threw a fresh $60M loan at the company; worth noting is that positive FID for the power station came on the same morning of the company’s AGM.

Paradigm Biopharmaceuticals meanwhile reeled in 26,029 viewers as it confirmed it’s progressing to phase 3 of its osteo arthritis trial focusing on knee injury.

Paradigm’s overall shtick is that it’s using a drug extracted from the wood chips of European beech trees to treat patients.

Finally, on-again-off-again energy darling Invictus Energy reeled in 25,548 viewers on Friday with its news Zimbabwe is getting closer to oil and gas legislation.

The news wasn’t a gas find, came on the morning of the company’s AGM, and didn’t actually contain any binding provisos around its project – but a lot of HotCopper users didn’t see a problem, and the stock jumped 4.6% on Friday.

So, that was most viewed, but what about the most discussed?

Well, Pilbara Minerals ended up being among the most discussed stocks on HotCopper this week as its AGM was digested by HotCopper users.

Larvotto Resources, meanwhile, continued to garner interest from the community after its recent luck finding somewhat-obscure critical mineral antimony earlier this year.

Antimony has been hot ever since China curbed exports of the metal, but not many traders seem to realise China isn’t the world’s biggest player in the metal anymore. In fact, China is running out of the material, and turning to places like Myanmar to get it. Food for thought.

Finally, fintech Spenda Limited joined the ranks of most discussed as the microcap company recently saw heightened trading activity through November. But with newsflow dying down since its AGM over a week ago, users were more interested in technical analysis – something which doesn’t really work for illiquid stocks.

That’s HotCopper Highlights for this week, I’m Jonathon Davidson, have a great weekend and we’ll see you on Monday.
