Kingsgate Consolidated (KCN) has appointed Nucharee Sailasuta as Non-Executive Director, and Jamie Gibson as the company’s Managing Director and acting CEO.
Currently serving as the Managing Director of both LotusHall Mining Heavy Engineering Construction and Lotus Green Energy, Thailand, Ms Sailasuta is well-experienced within the mining sector, especially mining management. She also owns the Pangluang Garden Resort & Restaurant in Thailand.
Since 1983, she has been apart of gold, copper, quarry, coal, kaolin and limestone mining operations, in Thailand and neighbouring countries.
Ms Sailasuta owns the FGD No.2 Project in partnership with EGAT (the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand) and has been the mining contractor at the Chatree gold mine since operations commenced in 2001.
She has won a number of awards across her illustrious career and also serves as the President of the Business Woman’s Association of Lampang in Thailand.
The company has also appointed Jamie Gibson as its new Managing Director and Acting CEO.
Mr Gibson has more than 25 years’ experience serving as a government and corporate professional.
He has worked at Kingsgate since 2013 across corporate strategy, investor, media, and government relations, establishing strong relationships with the Thai Government and community leaders around the Chatree gold mine.
Mr Gibson also previously served as a Board Member and the Vice President of the Australia Thailand Business Council.
Kingsgate Executive Chairman Ross Smyth-Kirk said the appointments “bring both renewal and an important diversity of skills to the board”.
“Nucharee’s extensive mining experience in South East Asia and Jamie’s ability to effectively engage with Kingsgate’s corporate, political, and regulatory environments will help ensure the success of the Chatree gold mine, and further enhance our key relationships in Thailand,” he said.
Chatree was Thailands “first and largest modern gold mine”, beginning operations in November 2001 and since then has produced more than 1.8 million ounces of gold and more than 10 million ounces of silver. It is owned by Kingsgate and its Thai subsidiary Akara Resources.
However in May 2016, the Thai Government ceased gold mining by December 31, 2016.
Kingsgate prepares for the imminent restart of the mine.
