Yes sir, I am aware of the solar radiation penetrating the clouds and the winds blowing at night. The point I was pointing out to the dear gentlemen was that baseload power is something that is generated all the time, not intermittent power generators overlapping each other. For the poor sods under the knife in the operating theatre, we don't want a situation where the sun doesn't generate enough power, the wind don't blow hard enough and the batteries are dry. That's why you have diesel generators in the farm right?
I am not advocating for a no-solar or no wind solution but it is far from being a base load power.
