Theres a difference between a Grubber kick and a Drop kick.

The grubber kick is ball, ground, foot simultaneously. Miss time it as Slater did and its a knock on.

The Drop kick has two interpretations, one common (Drop Goal, Drop out) and one obscure which the Referee ruled for Slater.

Slater tried for a grubber kick and it ended up as a drop kick according to the referee. imo

Slater knows what he did, the Referee doesn't.
