Is it a crime for the leader of a union movement to make the case for better wages for workers. If anything union members would want their reps to be more pro-active. Sally’s job is to advocate for workers. It’s the govt’s job to find the right balance not hers.
Business has it’s advocates and they have deep pockets and influence. Thank heaven there are people like McManus to balance things out and to jump on inequity. Look at the banks and finance industries. Without Labor they would not have been brought to account as a RC would not have occurred and they would continue greasing their palms at the expense of our citizens. Workers are being exploited, look at whats happening in the 7/11 franchises and franchises of varying types are collapsing not because of unions or Labor but because of the unscrupulous actions of the moguls who screw the franchisees.
The reality is that profits have been good for companies while wages have stagnated.
The unemployment figures don’t look too bad but they hide the reality that the employed are being made to work less hours and therefore less renumeration. This trend is continuing and if it keeps up imo there will be social upheaval.
The presumption that unions and Labor cruel jobs does not stack up imo. If that presumption were accurate Labor govt's would not be elected. However , the reality is Labor govt’s have been elected to most States and the way things are going will win federally. Even NSW could switch to Labor!
It would be one thing if there were some facts presented proving that McManus has had the power that has actually destroyed employment. The reality is the power is with the federal coalition govt so the header is false.
