When you short you don't get the dividend. You get to pay the dividend. Otherwise everyone would be doing it going into ex div dates.
Borrowing costs for shorting are between 2 to 10% pa according to investopedia.......
Two trading days before the dividend is paid. Shorts increased last week. Interesting to see how this plays out. They could close before dividend and this may result in a decent SP spike, or they really attack post ex dividend, using the ex div drop in SP and general media attacks on the banks to get momentum going and really push the SP down to 9.50 and below. Or do they have some other plan? If the attack continues I am definitely planning on increasing my position, just not sure when at this stage. Have to wait and see.
