Sorry, the OT from the Christian point of view is not a separate religion from that in the OT.

What is in the OT to make me make this statement?
Christians claim Christ's presence is in the OT for all to see.
Christians claim that Christ's birth, work, death, resurrection ... etc are foretold with remarkable accuracy and detail in the OT
Christ, himself, was reported to have quoted from the OT as his sacred texts.
Christ is reported to have said that he came to fulfill the law and the Prophets (of the OT) and not abolish them.

Matthew 5:17 New International Version (NIV)
    The Fulfillment of the Law

17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

You may believe that the OT is a separate religion but from the Christian point of view the bible does not support such a belief.

    --------------------------------------------------

It is true that Christ was at the time of his incarnation less into violence than the God of the OT, although he did have some flashbacks to the old ways in promising a sword and in advocating the forsaking of parents, siblings etc for reasons that appear to be an ego trip.

And, of course, not forgetting how it is reported that he would put an end to the "current system of things" - the ultimate in a violent solution except perhaps for the Genesis Flood.

You need to ask Christians how they reconcile this anomaly in their sacred texts.
