I don't mean to sound like a smart-a here. Hopefully I can make you feel a bit better... Your buy motive seems fundamentally wrong if you are closely watching the price of penny stocks with low volume and no significant news updates. I think it was Buffet who said the true price of any stock at any time is the price of a very large volume transaction on a relevant exchange. I think the normal process is something like: DYOR, buy some amount you can afford to lose, then reassess your position any time you learn major rumours or news.
