I don’t believe this is correct. Not aware of any operating RE processing plant that uses sulfuric acid to “crack” bastnesite ore.
As I stated previously, Mt Pass ore body containes both monazite and Bastnasite. The old processing facility used hydrochloric acid which was not suitable to process monazite, the monazite ore went to tailings. If sulfuric acid was able to “crack” both bastnesite and monazite, I am sure that the smart people at Molycorp would have used it back in the day. Certainly didn’t use it in the new processing facility.
Resource upgrade was planned to be released sometime this year, not sure of a specific date.
