Can someone give me a explanation of the benefits that a stockholder receives when they lend shares to short sellers. All I see from a bout of sustained short selling is a share price in the toilet and a distracted business. So when an insto gets the shares back and marks them to market they are worth less than before they loaned the shares out.
I just do not get it.
