At the very least they need to look at bracket creep type adjustments for booming states like NSW and VIC. With the cost of housing already being so high stamp duty is another big kick in the guts. The concession available for first home owners are struggling to keep pace with the market and I think as a whole the rate should be halved.
Naturally the politicians won't want to do it though, the state coffers are flooded with cash from stamp duty at the moment. When it's time to upgrade we are looking at having to find $30-40k on top of the cost of buying the property to live in very much a lower socio economic area ie 50km from the CBD.
