long term investing vs short term trading
I think maybe 15 years ago most of the investors would of been long term investors
holding for around a year in a particular stock to minimalize tax payable.
also with out the speed and ease of the internet it would of made it much harder to complete the transaction in the speed that is required for short term trading.

imho short term trading is much more beneficial to building wealth, if you know the basics of what you are doing. ASN is a recent example of what is wrong with long term investing, say you buy in at 3 cents for a million shares ( 30k) and see the run up to 30 cents ( 300k), you were tempted to sell at 10 bags but as a long term investor you continue to hold and now the SP is at 5.5 cents ( 55k)

so as a long term investor you are up 15k but as a short term investor even if you sold early at 25 cents (250k)
you would be up 235k a significant difference for anyone in the market.
