    I take it on the chin mjp2.

    I do object to the deliberate fraud part.  Not so mjp.  I got it wrong re GISS

    You are correct.  I have checked and I find various images of both baseline periods shown.  However images direct from GISS do show the 1951-80 baseline.  other sites use the GISS chart but obviously they change it the generally accepted baseline period that most datasets are based on 1981-2010.

    As Generic stated keep it standard as the WMO do.


    I am wondering why or how I got that wrong.  Obviously I was too quick of the mark.

    I since put it down to NOAA using the 1981 -2010 baseline as a default is what has made me assume it to be the norm.
