None of the Christians on HC will bother, so just for the record I think you will find that it is "Christ" that means Messiah not Jesus.

Jesus seems to mean something like "saves" or "Jehovah saves" or "saviour" etc and may well have been used to describe various Jewish dissidents or rebel leaders.
However, none of these would have been considered candidates for Messiah unless they passed all the other strict requirements.
