I keep reading this and finding nuggets of gold, ie. the mention of their ad-hoc approach resulting in unfavourable outcomes... sounds sciency to me. Why don’t AP focus their energy on doing something else rather than play around with bad interconnects?
Fred also states a random sample of wafers that reached a critical stage, so not the end product, still there could be more issues once they receive the final product, since what AP may perceive as critical may not necessarily be the critical stage.
Why don’t AP work on something other than the wafers in the meanwhile? The last paragraph gets more words than the first two! If it doesn’t have any material impact then why mention it at all? Why wait to finish on a low? I think we’re miles away... next announcement is after AP ‘validates’ the specs, at which point they’ll begin integration again, and realise once more there’s issues with the ASIC or some other lame excuse.
