It is hard to know when the chance of a counter bid turns to the negative, but in my mind the longer the time drags on after time is allowed for due diligence the less likely a counter bid.
What I find interesting is that Marathon have made no comment. It would seem to me that if they were not interested they should come out and say so as to stop the speculation. Of course they are under no obligation to do so, but I believe it would be ethical.
